- Arthritis is the most common cause of hip pain. Our hips do a lot of the heavy lifting and swinging in our lifetimes, and the cartilage can wear out. In minor cases, NSAIDs can help. Consider laser therapy among other consdervative measures. Should a hip replacement be necessary, this is major surgery that is generally among the most highly beneficial surgeries.
- Tendinitis and bursitis are well treated with NSAIDs and laser therapy.
- Fractures. Usually you know if your hip is fractured, but these must be surgically treated.
- Gynecologic issues can present as hip pain. Consult a gynecologist.
- Inguinal hernias, especially in women, can present as hip pain. Consult a general surgeon.
