Hi, my name is Liz and I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis 20 years ago, and have been on a myriad of medications along the way and I can’t remember exactly when the pain started. But I’ve been on probably OxyContin the longest, and more recently a more extended release version of that – Opana, and have been able through a series of laser treatments to go down, almost half at this point, which is really amazing to find a treatment that helps, that is no side effects whatsoever. To be able to come off an opiate is a really big deal.
Also, very quickly in my treatments I was on another medication called Empira which is another MS drug, and it’s specifically for your gate. And I wasn’t really sure how much it was helping me, but I was not able to get off it because every time I tried, the withdrawal was very intense in terms of it gave me this very strange back pain that I just ended up giving into and going back on the drug just to make that go away. And using the laser, I was able to go off of the Empira with very little difficulty at all.
There have been symptoms of withdrawal in coming off of the drugs in terms of dizziness, lightheadedness, that kind of thing but in terms of the pain, it’s been a steady improvement and really just a miracle to me. And there was a spasm that I had in my hip area for I don’t know how long, maybe a decade of 24/7 throbbing that the meds didn’t touch ever. I am able to deal with other spasms that I have but this particular spasm was just a constant that it becomes irritating, and would start to go down my legs in terms of the pain, of just that constant. And that went away almost immediately after the first or second laser treatment and has not come back, and like I said, this was years and years of 24/7 throbbing. So, it’s been great and I can’t imagine any other way that I would’ve been able to do this. It’s… my neurologist is very excited about my improvement and, I’m excited about it! So thank you!
